Meetings
The Working Group holds regular off-the-record briefings for its members with Security Council ambassadors, UN officials and others with special knowledge of Council matters. The meetings serve four main functions:
To inform NGOs about the work of the Council, including closed meetings and behind-the-scenes negotiations.
To provide ambassadors with unique information and analysis from NGOs with field presence and/or expertise.
To offer NGOs an opportunity for advocacy.
To introduce diplomats to NGO representatives (and vice versa), so that wider contact and bilateral advocacy can take place easily.
